Phase III Life. Finding Health and Happiness Later in Life is a BLOG published in October 2026 by Kevin Jacobi.

It builds on my body of work at Land Basket Farm which focused on the pursuance of Health, predominantly through our food choices.  In addition to healthy eating, the LBF BLOG, in 2024 also chronicled my wife's cancer diagnosis, treatment, eventual death and the emotion, lessons and stages of grief surrounding that loss.

With the closing of the Land Basket Farm Season, It is my intent to continue my advocacy for healthier living - focusing on subjects that are of particular interest to folks later in life, but the content does not exclude the young.

I will continue to advocate and wage my brand of warfare against the modern food landscape and the associated health issues it causes.

However, this Blog will also dive deeper into finding happiness later in life. Albeit loosely following my own journey after the loss of my bride of 35 years, it is not limited to finding happiness after a loss by death.... it could be loss by divorce or break up or it may not be associated with loss at all - just a change of someone's seasons - and the re-orientation onto a new purpose and happiness.

This is a New Venture

Unlike LBF BLOG which focused on food, this blog intends to operate one level up – think – Physical, Mental, Spiritual Health topics effecting folks in Phase III. Be patient as I find my stride.

 What is in a name ?

Most of you know the story about Land Basket Farm and how I choose that name. I tried to approach Phase III Life the same way. Phase III is modeled roughly from Peter Laslett's book - In a Fresh Map of life. The book lays out 4 ages of life. First Age - Growing Up, Independence, Education. Second Age- Working, Raising a family, carrying responsibilities. Third Age - Greater Freedom to pursue personal fulfillment while healthy and active. Forth Age - Frailty and increasing dependance.

The Forth Age.. or Phase IV of life, will find us all - but lets do all we can to keep kicking that can down the road. 😊
